The Amazon Appstore launched this morning, and it only offers apps for Android devices. So while the Angry Birds Rio exclusive is a pretty big deal, it is not quite as big a deal as it would be if Rovio were not also offering the app for the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. In fact, on March 17th, Angry Birds Rio for iOS was launched.

The new Angry Birds Rio game would be an Amazon Appstore exclusive, when Amazon and Rovio announced that, they were just talking about Android. For the rest of the day from the Amazon Appstore if you have a supported Android device, The application is available as a free download. But if you are an iOS user you can also Angry Birds Rio from the iTunes App Store for $0.99.

The latest game in the popular Angry Birds franchise is a tie-in with the upcoming animated movie Rio. It is also the first title in the series to be totally pigless. Instead of slamming birds into obstacles to crush pigs, the goal is to free birds trapped in cages. Otherwise the gameplay is pretty much the same as earlier Angry Birds titles.
