Shareholder meeting Apple to holds – Ahead of the Bell
Apple Inc. is meeting with shareholders at its annual meeting at company headquarters Thursday , and this year CEO Steve Jobs will likely be on hand to take questions from stockholders.
Jobs was absent from the meeting due to sick leave last year.
Apple resisted the economic crisis better than most companies of consumer electronics. In 2009, Apple shares have more than doubled to close above $ 200, where it still hovers. Jobs, a survivor of pancreatic cancer, took off about six months, during which he had a liver transplant. He returned to work at the end of June.
During the year, the Cupertino, California company has introduced a faster version of the popular iPhone phone smart, has updated its Macintosh operating system and iTunes media organization, and has launched a new little iPod nano with a video camera built in.
At the annual meeting, Apple shareholders of Apple for the first time have the possibility to issue an advisory vote on the company’s executive compensation plans.
Shareholders will also vote on two proposals submitted by their peers. One calls for a detailed environmental sustainability report, and the other by a board committee devoted to this issue, both of which Apple is opposed.
Apple’s stock closed at $200.66 Wed.
