iPad Updates herald arrival

The iPad is available for sale in the United States on Saturday, and Apple has made changes to pave the way for the new device. They arrive at the end of a month’s work undated

iTunes 9.1 delivers iBooks support (it is not known at this stage whether this will allow you to read books on a Mac or Windows PC, or if it simply manages them), and syncs content with the iPad.

It also offers several security patches for the version of Windows. Almost all problems have been fixed in Mac OS X – you have upgraded to Mac OS X 10.6.3 or installed security update 2010-001 and 10.5 -002, right?

But it is a common vulnerability to iTunes for Mac and Windows. Version 9.1 fixes a bug that allowed a maliciously crafted MP4 podcast to put iTunes into an infinite loop.

iPhoto 8.1.2 also offers support synchronization import / for IPAD, with the import and synchronization improvements in reliability, and correct identification of the 5th gen iPod nano.

Apple’s software gnomes have been busy, my colleague Anthony Caruana said that his system downloaded over 1 GB of Apple updates on one day this week.

Other updates Apple has released in the last seven days include QuickTime 7.6.6 (for Leopard and Windows), iPhone Configuration Utility 2.2 (Mac and Windows), MobileMe Control Panel (Windows), Bonjour Print Services (Windows), Aperture 3.0.2, iMovie 8.0.6, Canon Printer Drivers 2.3 (Snow Leopard), and Pro Applications Update 2010-01.
