Ban the Apple iPad – U.S. universities
George Washington University and Princeton University have both banned the iPad, and more schools are likely to follow. Which surely harms Apple’s intentions to make the iPad a must have for students.
The Apple iPad is for everyone, more or less, but obviously there are groups that are targeted more than others. Students are an obvious target, with IPAD could replace the need for textbooks over time, and lots of entertainment.
There is a problem, however, that some universities refuse IPAD. According to the WSJ, the two schools mentioned above include safety issues for the prohibition, while studying at Cornell University IPAD because of problems with connectivity and bandwidth overhead.
I’d hate to be a student who has gone out and bought an iPad straight away only to be banned from using it in school. Whatever the issues behind these bans, Apple needs to endeavor to fix them quickly (at least by the release of v2).
