Film Movement will release documentary MINE ,through iTunes

Indie movie distributor Film Movement will release documentary MINE, a South by Southwest winner,

theatrically the same day it releases the film through iTunes.

According to the president of Film Movement, Adley Gartenstein, “It has always been important to

Film Movement to bring the very best in independent and arthouse film to as wide an audience as

possible, without being held prisoner by traditional distribution windows. We are proud to

announce the day of theater and iTunes release date of the film and are convinced that this will

open the door to a successful new arena of film distribution, enabling a wider audience.”

The film first hits theaters in San Francisco as well as iTunes Jan. 8. Theatrical runs in New

York and New Orleans will follow as part of a national 20 cities in the United States release.

MINE explores the relationship between humans and pets against the backdrop of the aftermath of

Hurricane Katrina, as people searched for their pets. They even go into the custody battles that

arise over pets.

Preorders of MINE are available now through the iTunes store.

Mac 101: Buy a file in iTunes for someone

The iTunes Store and App Store have mastered the art of the impulse buying. “Only two dollars?

Sure, why not?” The good news is that you can send a song, album, movie or TV show to a friend

just as easily.

Start with the music. First, find the album or song you’d want to send. If you’re sending a song,

you’ll see a drop-down arrow next to the track’s “Buy” button. Click on it to reveal the right

menu, then select “Gift this Song”.

You are brought to a new screen (in the gallery below). From there, you just enter some

information, click continue and it’s done! Your recipient will receive a nice email message with a

download link. The process is the same for albums, individual TV shows, audiobooks (though the

“Gift this audiobook” looks different) and movies.

Note that you can not grant full television stations (Bummer) or iPhone / iPod Touch apps.

However, you can choose to share a link to an interesting app. With the app selected, click the

same drop-down button to reveal the “Tell a Friend” option. The same is true of Podcasts – hit

that “Tell a Friend” button to let everyone know what you hear. With  few clicks, you can share

your favorite content with anyone you want!
