Launches – Sound Citizen Radio on iTunes
Sound Citizen (SoundCitizen.com) covered the music scene in Chicago since 2008. Now, with a new podcast in Sound Citizen Radio, Mike Phillips and his team bring a new way of Chicago and music lovers around the country to discover new music.
“We’re really excited about Sound Citizen Radio, and couldn’t be happier to have it available on iTunes,” says Phillips. “This is another way to bring new pieces from the best fans in the country. We have accomplished our mission to help keep the local music scene, starting with Chicago. There are amazing bands out there that just need to be heard. We put that to the masses and innovate for budding musicians everywhere. ”
Each episode of Sound Citizen Radio features songs from three bands, as well as information on where you can see live in the coming days or weeks. Also included are recommendations for upcoming concerts in a section called “Screw the Scalpers.”
“It is unfortunate that many fans of good music are forced to pay more than the face value of tickets for their favorite bands,” says Phillips. “We hope to give them a little early warning, can get their tickets and not get screwed.”
Sound Citizen was started by Phillips as a music fan. It was the discovery of live music throughout Chicago and wanted to share their experiences. “Live music is where it’s at,” says Phillips. As it’s grown, Sound Citizen has also become a resource for the musicians themselves.
“We have a lot of submissions from local groups, and it is very rewarding to help them,” said Phillips. “At the same time we like most acts, like everyone else. We’ve found a good mix of local and national talent, so far, readers seem to enjoy it. In the podcast grows, we hope to cover most countries, too. There are thousands of talented musicians waiting to be discovered. We want to help. ”
The podcast can be found on iTunes by searching “Sound Citizen.”
