Gets iTunes app reprieve, Pulitzer winning cartoonist
A once-rejected NewsToons political satire application for the iPhone was available at iTunes on Tuesday after Apple was awarded the Pulitzer Prize-winning creator of rehabilitation.
Apple rejected the application on the grounds NewsToons December that it violated the rules of California’s flagship developer by criticizing public officials.
Newstoons creator Mark Fiore has received the Pulitzer Prize this month for his work, which caused the story of a winner of prestigious awards to be released by Apple.
Apple called Fiore and took him to resubmit his NewsToons iTunes. He did it Friday and was quickly approved by the App Store.
Apple chief executive Steve Jobs was publicly quoted as saying initially rejected Fiore’s application was a mistake.
Fiore has been quoted in the San Francisco Chronicle saying he was
“weird” special treatment because he apparently has won a Pulitzer. – AFP
