Now that IPAD was released, there are three types of applications in the App Store: the applications are made specifically for the iPhone, applications designed specifically for the IPAD, and “hybrid” applications that include both the iPhone and interfaces optimized IPAD.
The problem is that while the iTunes Store offers convenient navigation button for the iPhone is just or fair IPAD applications, the rest of iTunes can not ignore this distinction. Apps point of view, a list of all applications loaded, no difference in default, and when your IPAD is connected, the tab Apps for your IPAD provides no way to see that IPAD applications.
There are a couple ways to ferret out your iPad and hybrid apps, however. Click on the Applications item in the sidebar in iTunes – its IPAD not need to be connected – to display all downloaded applications. Then choose View -> As List to view those apps in a sortable text list. Next choose View -> View Options and check the box next to Kind (or right-click any column header in the Apps view and choose Kind to enable it); this action adds the Kind column to the list.
Click on a column of this new class and its applications are classified by type of application: The application of IPAD, iPhone / iPod touch app or iPhone / iPod touch / app IPAD (click again to reverse the order of sorting.) Unfortunately, the iPhone / iPod touch applications completed within two types of applications optimized IPAD, so it’s a bit annoying to see all applications with an interface IPAD. But it’s better than nothing, right?
Another way to see the applications in such groups is to choose View -> as Grid and then choose View -> Grid View -> Applications. This shows you a graphical view of all your downloaded apps, grouped by app type. I don’t find grid view to be as useful as list view, however, especially if you have lots of apps. (It also sorts the same way as list view, with iPhone/iPod touch apps between the two types of iPad apps.)
Of course, these options do not help you while you’re deciding exactly what applications to synchronize with your IPAD (in other words, when you select your IPAD in the sidebar and see Apps tab.) but at least easier to see how your applications to take advantage of a large screen IPAD and other unique characteristics. Hopefully Apple fixes this omission, and it is easier to synchronize automatically optimized IPAD IPAD that your applications in iTunes update.
