iTunes breach, Apple denies

Apple has admitted 400 customers were affected in an attack on the iTunes Store, but insists that the site was not hacked.

Last weekend, the developer Nguyen Thuat quickly dominated the rankings with 42 iBooks in the top 50 retail sites, shopping unauthorized users account for their accounts. About 400 iTunes customers have been affected by the attack, but spokeswoman Trudy Muller said Apple Apple’s servers are not compromised and no personal data was lost.

“There was no hack into iTunes,” she told the New York Times, but wouldn’t explain exactly how the rogue developer gained access to customer accounts.

Apple has banned the promoter and said it will strengthen security, start by asking users to enter the security code of your credit cards more frequently.

Apple recommends that iTunes customers affected should immediately change your password, while users on the forums of the company suggested the abolition of the credit card completely and use Apple gift cards.

“If your credit card or iTunes password is stolen and used on iTunes we recommend that you contact your financial institution and inquire about canceling the card and issuing a chargeback for any unauthorised transactions,” Apple said.
