The company also released the Apple TV, a service that allows movie and TV show streaming on the Internet.
Ping social networking site online comes with Apple’s iTunes program, which is used by over 160 million users worldwide to download songs and organize music tracks.
“One of the biggest things we focus on with iTunes is discovery. There are more than 12 million songs to choose from, so how do you find new stuff?,” Said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO, in a press conference Held at Yerba Buena Center in San Francisco.
“So we’re launching Ping – it’s a social network that’s all about music. It’s like Facebook and Twitter meets iTunes. You can follow your favorite artists and friends and discover what music they like and are downloading,” Jobs said about the nature of a new online social networking site.
