Apple – EMI steals iTunes executive
Apple has lost a key player in their iTunes empire: Alex Luke has been poached by EMI. Luke has played a key role in Apple’s iTunes “Live From” series at Apple retail stores, iTunes Originals, and iTunes’ Single of the Week, according to 9 to 5 Mac.
It was also reported that Lucas was appointed to a senior artist and the position of the repertoire (A & R) for EMI, making him responsible for overseeing exploration and artistic development of artists. A & R employees often act as a liaison between the artist and the label.
EMI poached a competent musician, who was largely responsible for the success of Apple’s iTunes in the production of specific content. Hopefully Apple has someone in the pipeline that can fill his shoes, because if not, iTunes will be a little less original original motion.
