On iTunes SXSW Released Live EPs
Now, via the new iTunes Live: SXSW EP’s, you have the opportunity to enjoy some of the very good music featured at the festival.
SXSW has announced the official digital release of 20 short albums recorded, mixed, and mastered on the ground in Austin last week during the festival. The EP’s feature live recordings from Lucinda Williams, Jessica Lea Mayfield, Neon Trees and Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears and many more.
AmericanSongwriter.com points out that it is a tough task figuring out exactly where and when the live recordings were made in Austin because the info cannot be located on iTunes or on SXSW’s site.
Lia Ices’ and Jessica Lea Mayfield’s EPs appear to have been recorded at St. David’s Cathedral, where both artists played on Thursday night during the festival. Other recordings might have been captured at the Central Presbyterian Church.
The EPs vary in price tag, $4.95 up to $9.99, as well as featured tracks. Most of the digital albums have 5-6 live songs, but then you get to Jessica Lea Mayfield’s live set, which features 10 songs.
Of course it is all a fuzzy memory. But for those of us not in attendance in Austin, we are just happy to have some cool, live tunes from some great acts that no doubt left a lot of music fans smiling last week.
