Apple has released the new iTunes 9.2.1 update. The update is responsible for a key security vulnerability that attackers can execute arbitrary code. The vulnerability affects both Windows and Mac computers using iTunes and an attacker can be exploited by a maliciously created ‘itpc:’ link for hijacking an end-user’s computer.

Secunia, the vulnerability of society to Danish intelligence, vulnerability (CVE-2010-1777) is the result of a boundary error caused by the manner in which specific uses iTunes ‘itpc:’ links, as reported by SoftPedia on July 20, 2010.

During an attack, the attacker creates a special URL and users visiting the towers. If you are able to exploit this vulnerability, then a situation of ‘heap overflow’ results that makes the computer susceptible to attack.

Apple states in a support document posted on its website that visiting a maliciously-created ‘itpc:’ URL may result in random code execution or sudden termination of application. Apple has set right the flaw via enhanced bounds checking, as reported by Apple on July 19, 2010.

According to security researchers, the rate on the shortcomings of the methods of URL handling is very risky worrying, since no technical skills needed for their operations.

They argue that, given the huge user base of iTunes after the acceptance of IPAD, iPhones and iPods, the security hole creates an opportunity for aggression in bulk.

Amid the multitude of problems solved, there are updates that address minor issues in the articles slipped to iTunes, the demand factor due to sync with some devices unlike before using iTunes 9.2 A problem with IOS and updating of four pieces on the iPhone and iPod encrypted backups, and the necessary breakthrough in performance and stability.

However, the most important problem to solve with the iTunes 9.2.1 update is that the desktop version earlier versions of some bad third party plug-ins.

The same type of vulnerability in Windows XP process hcp: (Help and Support) URL, a default of 0 days was revealed in early June 2010. The two targeted attacks and drive-by downloads, exploit this vulnerability.

Citibank has acknowledged that its application for the iPhone contains security vulnerabilities that could allow hackers to steal sensitive information user bank, but it is a security problem or security issue iPhone Citibank?

Citibank, one of the largest banks in the world, admitted that the application for the iPhone who wrote (or perhaps caused by writing) was written by a hacker who accessed the phone could be drawn from the Bank User information such as account numbers, bill payment and security access codes. In a way, it is painted as a problem in the mobile security device, and even specifically as a security problem with the iPhone, when in fact, seems to be purely a problem with how much U.S. bank. UU. who should know better coded their application for the iPhone.

Creating a temporary file containing sensitive user banking information is not an intelligent way to code such an application, yet that is what the Citi programmers did. Worse, though the file was in a hidden directory and at least slightly difficult to find, they failed to erase the file when they were through with it. To add idiocy to injury, the backup process via iTunes copied that file full of sensitive information to the user’s laptop or desktop computer when they hooked their iPhone up to sync it. This is, indeed, very poor security in action, but it has nothing in it to allow the indictment of the mobile industry and its devices.

Any programmer can make mistakes regardless of the device that is intended for your code. And that’s what happened in this case, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal. Making the leap from a poorly programmed application to put the blame at the feet of mobile telephony in general and in particular Apple is ridiculous. For application programmers to write secure code. If they did not, there is little that the mobile industry or a single cell phone manufacturer can do about it.

Gossip website Popjustice music reminded me of this when applying this approach to a new single from British singer Alesha Dixon, the first 19 seconds of what he describes as “2010′s worst portion of recorded sound”. It could also be useful with live recordings if you want to eliminate pre or post-song chatter and focus the actual tune. To access the option, right-click on a track, select “Get Info”, choose the Options tab and select your start and/or stop times.
